St. Peters Mom Warning Others After Dry Shampoo Can Explodes in Teen Daughter’s Car

A St. Peters, Missouri, mom posted a warning on Facebook after an aerosol can exploded and ravaged her daughter’s car—it only took them some time to find out what happened.

“We thought something fell down from the sky, but the glass was going out, so we know that wasn’t the case,” Christine Debrecht told Fox News.

“I really feel like I need to spread the word about this and hopefully prevent others from experiencing this damage or even injury. Please feel free to share,” Christine stated in her Facebook post of Sept. 19.

She describes how the dry shampoo just tuned into a lethal projectile within a few hours of exposure to the car’s heat, trashing her teenage daughter’s Honda Civic’s sunroof.

“This can of dry shampoo was left in my daughter’s car’s middle console. The lid of the console was closed,” she continued. “It was hot yesterday, and the can exploded. It blew the console cover off of its hinges, shot through the sunroof, and went high enough in the air that it landed about 50 feet away.”

“I just want to remind you (and your kids) to heed those warnings on products you may be using. Please don’t leave aerosol cans (and especially dry shampoo, as this seems to be an issue with some brands) in your car! I am so grateful that no one was hurt.”

Reportedly the insurance company will cover the costs of the car’s body repair. But the repair shop owner said he has never seen anything like this.

“Please remain respectful about the fact that warnings are often overlooked by busy teenagers,” Debrecht stressed when contacted by our news team.

Spraying deodorant and lighting a cigarette at the same time is extremely dangerous, too—keep reading.

Car Explodes After Man Sprays Deodorant and Lights Cigarette

A car exploded after a man sprayed some aerosol deodorant inside a car, then lit a cigarette, in Baltimore on Thursday, March 1, 2018, CBS Baltimore reported.

The blast blew the car doors open, tore part of the roof from the car, and ripped out the windshield. A nearby car was also damaged.

The man was taken to a hospital. Police say he is lucky to be alive and conscious.

The explosion took place in the parking lot of The Restaurant Store, where the driver is a frequent customer.

A manager at The Restaurant Store told CBS he rushed out of the store and called 911 when he heard the explosion.

Authorities classified the incident as a “violent rumble” rather than an explosion since there was no fire.

Photos from the scene show that the vehicle belonged to Farm-to-Table Catering, a Woodstock, Maryland, business.

The car, a black Chevrolet HHR, is emblazoned with the company slogan: “We breed ’em and feed em.'” That business is part of Braglio Farms, a family-owned and operated farm established in 1962.

The farm breeds and rears pigs and cows. The company serves the pork and beef in their own restaurants in addition to offering the products to customers.
