NEW YORK—Donning the Trump campaign’s signature MAGA hat, the president’s supporters in Staten Island gathered on Oct. 7 to denounce the latest accusations made against POTUS.
In an anti-impeachment rally, Staten Islanders called attention to a Staten Island representative’s announcement that they are not happy about.
Democratic incumbent Rep. Max Rose (D-SI/Bklyn) had been resisting the Democrat’s call to impeach Trump.
“He said he wasn’t going to support impeachment, he said all the virtues why he would never support impeachment,” Nicholas A. Langworthy, chairman of the New York State Republican Club, told NTD News. “This is a district that Donald Trump won overwhelmingly.
“He was turned his back on the constituents that he represents.”
Rose, a veteran, said last Friday that he now supports impeachment—a complete 180 degree turn from what he said in an op-ed one month ago. He said he believes the president is willing to violate the constitution to be re-elected.
In the op-ed, Rose wrote, “Impeachment will only further tear this country apart,” Brendan Lantry, Chairman of the Staten Island Republican Party, told NTD News. “He’s now flip-flopped on the issue and he’s coming out on this impeachment inquiry.”
Supporters Remain Confident in POTUS
Nonetheless, supporters of the president do not seem worried. Joseph Saladino, a congressional candidate seeking to take Rose’s seat, called the allegations against President Trump a “witch hunt.”
“When they got nothing with Russia, they move to Ukraine, and then something else every time they get proven wrong because they know they can’t beat him,” he said.
Daniel Lou said it is a crucial time—a time to show support for his Republican fellows.
“Staten Island is a Republican borough—the only borough where the majority is Republican, so we must come out, let our voice heard,” Lou said.
Republican candidate Nicole Malliotakis, who lost the race against New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio, is challenging Rose for his seat in Congress.
