Stolen ancient Peruvian art returns home

A Peruvian museum recovered 500 stolen artifacts. Some of the artifacts were voluntarily returned. Some returned only after criminal investigation.

A joint criminal investigation resulted in art returning from Germany, Argentina, Bolivia, Spain, France, the U.S., Italy, and Mexico. Peru is valued for its pre-Columbian art. Art is regularly trafficked out of the country. Peruvian officials are still trying to recover 40,000 pieces of art on loan since 1911 to Yale University.
