A ranger for the National Park Service, U.S. National Mall and Memorial Parks division captured a video of a storm moving over the Tidal Basin in Washington, D.C. on Thursday (April 06). The video, recorded by Carlos De La Torre, shows heavy rains and winds with the Washington Monument in the distance.

The Washington, D.C. area was hit with severe thunderstorms and tornadoes Thursday that uprooted trees, damaged homes, and downed power lines.
