Prime Minister Rishi Sunak this week restored a ban on fracking, saying he would stand by the effective ban on the technique as set out in the 2019 manifesto. During her brief premiership, Liz Truss lifted the ban in areas where there was local consent. It was part of her plan to limit rising energy costs. Fracking involves drilling into the earth to extract gas from shale rock. To shed some light on this decision, NTD spoke with fracking expert Prof. Richard Davies.
