Sunak Defends Tax Hike, Signals Later Tax Cut

The new budget is estimated to raise Britons’ tax burden to the highest levels since the post-war Labour administration. Appearing before the Commons Treasury Committee on Monday, Chancellor Rishi Sunak said higher taxes could boost quality of life. But he also insisted he will aim to bring the tax burden down by the next general election.
