More than 100 civilians were killed when a suicide bomber attacked a convoy of buses carrying refugees out of a besieged town in Syria,.
Rebels and government forces were negotiating a allowing refugees to flee a pair of towns, one under attack by rebel forces, the other surrounded by government troops.
The negotiations stalled, stranding the two groups of refugees at transit points. A group of about 5,000 primarily Shi’ite pro-government civilians were waiting outside Aleppo, guarded by rebel soldiers, when a car bomber attacked.
The rebels have denounced the attack and so far no group has claimed responsibility.
While the injured were taken to a nearby hospital for treatment, rescuers continued to pull bodies out of the wreckage.
