Speaking of diplomatic boycotts—one country is making a last-minute addition to the list. India announced a diplomatic boycott of the Beijing Olympics Thursday—one day before the event’s official start. But not because of China’s human rights abuses.
Last night, persecuted communities held an alternative Olympics opening ceremony in central London. Lawmakers joined the rally to highlight Beijing’s crimes against humanity, as well as the International Olympic Committee’s complicity. Several countries including the UK, the U.S., Canada, Australia, and India have declared a diplomatic boycott against the games.
More countries are joining the diplomatic boycott of the Beijing Olympics. On the one hand, China is sharply criticizing these countries, threatening that they will pay a price for their actions. But on the other hand—Beijing also says it doesn’t care.
After President Joe Biden announced the diplomatic boycott of the Beijing Winter Olympics, Australia, the UK, and Canada are now starting to follow suit. NTD spoke with Rep. Louie Gohmert (R-Texas) about dealing with China’s human rights abuses and IP theft.

The Prime Minister earlier told MPs that there will “effectively be a diplomatic boycott” of the Beijing Olympic games as U.K. ministers and officials won’t be going.
