Taiwan’s new President Lai Ching-te, urged Beijing to stop its intimidation and called for peace and stability in the Taiwan Strait as he was sworn into office. The Chinese Communist Party claims Taiwan as its own territory and Beijing has increased military incursions around Taiwan.
