Taliban attacks Afghan army headquarters

A group of Taliban fighters in Afghan army uniforms attacked an army headquarters in northern Afghanistan.

A large number of Afghan soldiers were killed or wounded.

Six attackers in two vehicles entered the base after telling the gate guards they were carrying wounded soldiers.

After attacking with guns and rocket-propelled grenades one attacker was killed and the other five were arrested.

Casualty reports vary. Some range as high as 50 dead or injured.
