Teen Dad ‘Forcibly Removes’ 19-Day-Old Son From Mother, Police Say
(Coconut Creek Police Department)

A 17-year-old father “forcibly removed” his son from the child’s mother in South Florida on Monday afternoon before the baby found safe and the suspect was arrested. Police had issued an AMBER Alert for the child.

According to the Coconut Creek Police Department, Jonathan Garcia, the father, was arrested on Monday night in Apopka.

“He is now in jail in Orange County’s Juvenile Detention Facility because he is 17. He is charged with kidnapping, child endangerment, domestic battery, and simple battery. The baby is back home safe and sound with the mother and her family,” officials said.

The child, identified as Joshua Pachon Quinteron, according to another update, was taken to a hospital for a checkup. The child is 19 days old.

But a day before that, officials said that Garcia “forcibly removed his son, Joshua Pachon Quinteron, from his mother.”

“Witnesses told investigators the suspect was seen hitting and shaking the child as he was running away from the scene,” said the department. Garcia then allegedly took the baby in an Uber car to Oakland Park, where he was seen getting out near the intersection near Northeast 10th Avenue and Northeast 38th Street.
