Teen diagnosed with a disorder that will make her blind decides to take on the world

If you lost your sight tomorrow, what would you make sure to see today?

Would you binge-watch your favorite show? Stare into the eyes of your loved ones? Go to your favorite place and take it all in one last time? Many people are born without sight or lose it unexpectedly and never get a chance to see the world one last time.

A young woman is losing her sight and knows her time is limited. So she’s setting out to feast her eyes on everything she possibly can while she has the chance.

Fifteen-year-old Alexis Myers started losing her hearing in kindergarten.

Not long after that, her eyesight started to suffer and she was losing balance.

She went through test after test before doctors learned she had a mutation in her OPA-1 gene.

The disorder, Autosomal Dominant Optic Atrophy +, is rare and causes blindness.

There isn’t a cure and Alexis is well aware of what her diagnosis means.

By the time she is 17, she is expected to be completely blind.
