A judge in Texas has made waves with a new video that asserts there are three things parents can do to make sure their child goes to jail.

The video shows Wayne Mack, a judge in Precinct 1 in the Houston area, talking outside a jail.

He posted the footage on Facebook over the weekend after several days of probable cause hearings during spring break, where many of the suspects were between the ages of 16 to 20, reported the Houston Chronicle.

“I just thought, ‘There is no way your mom or dad knew where you were,'” Mack said. “The majority of juvenile cases I deal with have to do with inattentive parenting.”

He then outlined the three things are for guaranteed jail time:

The first thing is, “Don’t hold your child accountable. Don’t know where they’re at, don’t know who they’re hanging out with. Don’t know where they’re going. Just let them go anywhere they want to (go) do anything they want to do,” he said.

The second, Mack said, is, “Don’t teach them the greatest ability of responsibility. They don’t have to be responsible for what they say. They don’t have to be responsible for what they do. They don’t have to go to school. They don’t have to do chores around your house. If they whine and complain enough, you just do it yourself so you don’t have to worry about it.”

The third thing, “Let them lie to you. Every time they tell you a lie, and you know they’re telling you a lie, do the easiest thing, is just to ignore it and pretend it didn’t happen.”

Mack said stricter parenting could put a big dent in criminal activity around Montgomery County, where he works and hears cases.

The video has over 49,000 views and 1,000 shares.

The comments have been pouring in, with many supportive of Mack’s views.

“Thank you for validating everything I am trying to do with my kids right now. I showed this video to my son to help him understand WHY we do what we do. For him. For his well being. For his future. Not just to be difficult,” wrote Dawn Yuengel.

“You are so ‘Right on Target’ Judge. Too many parents want to be their Child’s friend or buddy but ultimately when the child becomes an adult they are responsible for their on behavior whether they had good parents or sorry ones. Thanks for trying to teach the difference!” added Harrison Farms.

“Yes, when we love our children we will correct them and we will discipline them in the right ways and manners. We will show them respect for everyone and themselves. I pray for the kids and the parents so we also respect our children and love them enough to teach them to be upstanding citizens,” said LaGracia DeDios.
