A murder suspect was arrested Thursday in connection in the death of soldier Brandon Scott Rosecrans, who was found dead near Fort Hood, Texas, several months ago.

Rosecrans was found dead on the side of a road in Harker Heights, Texas, in May. Police in the city said he was found next to his vehicle, which was set on fire, reported the Austin American-Statesman.

The suspect arrested in connection to the case was identified as 28-year-old Brandon Michael Olivares. He was allegedly traveling in Rosencrans’ vehicle when he shot him.

No details about a potential motive were released by police.

A warrant was issued for Olivares’ arrest. However, he was already in police custody on an unrelated charge.

A police affidavit stated that Olivares was seen walking away from the area where the Jeep was discovered, KWTX reported. Reports said his bail was set for $1 million.

Thomas Berg, Rosecrans’ father, told the American-Statesman that he received the news but said it raised more questions.

“This is not over,” Berg said. “It is a victory, but at the same time this is just a piece of news until we can put this all together.”

“The arrest just gave us even more questions,” Berg said. “We do know there are other warrants that will follow,” he added, without elaborating.

Meanwhile, over the weekend, another Fort Hood soldier was found dead in Texas.

Spc. Francisco Gilberto Hernandezvargas, 24, of New York, died Sunday in a boating incident at the Stillhouse Hollow Lake, officials with Fort Hood said in a news release.
