Dan and Michelle Hamill and their family are just like the rest of us. They are a married couple with a son and twin daughters, and they take on the daily challenges of work, parenting, and being happy and healthy like so many of us do. But there is one way in which they are extremely special and unique from the vast majority of us. They are little people and their children; Jack, and twin daughters, Cece and Cate, are all little people, just like them!
Because of some genetic dispositions that go with the territory of being a little person, they faced some medical challenges and had to beat the odds of some of the risks involved with pregnancy. The specific condition they have is called achondroplasia, a form of dwarfism. of course, that makes life very “interesting” at times as they navigate through the world built mostly for average-sized people. There have and will always be challenges that vary from daily routines to medical issues that the majority don’t have to think about. But this family of five appears to be more than willing to tackle anything that comes their way.
The thing that makes the best equipped for that task is, of course, the fact that they are loving and supportive of each other – just as all of us strive to be.
