China called for restraint on April 5 after North Korea test-fired another ballistic missile earlier in the day.

“We all know that the Security Council’s relevant resolution has a clear regulation regarding to North Korea’s launch activities using ballistic missile technology. We believe that under the current situation all relevant parties should maintain restraint and not do anything that will add to tensions in the region, said Hua Chunying, spokeswoman for China’s Foreign Ministry.

The launch comes a day before a U.S.-China summit in Florida, where President Donald Trump and Chinese leader Xi Jinping will meet for the first time.

North Korea will be one of two main topics up for discussion during the summit. The United States wants China to put more pressure on North Korea to stop its arms development.
Hua said there is no connection between the missile launch and the impending meeting.
