Thousands of “Santas” were running through central Madrid on Sunday, Dec. 9.

Dressed as Santa Claus, more than 7,000 people participated in the charity event, racing to raise money for those in need.

The runners may not be delivering presents during their five-kilometer (three-mile) race, but the donations they brought with them and the awareness they raised was making a difference for others, not to mention that their red suits brought a festive feel to the city.

Setting off from Paseo del Prado, the “Santas” ran to the Ruben Dario roundabout on Paseo de Castellana and back. According to Reuters, the organizers planned for this to be the greatest number of people running in Santa Claus costumes.

The INTHOES Foundation will receive part of the money raised in the race. It was founded in 2010, with a mission of providing cancer patients with access to the latest technology.
