Tillerson brings Syria message to Russia

U.S. Secretary of State Rex Tillerson flew to Moscow April 7, after meeting with G-7 foreign ministers to discuss Syria’s civil war and Russia’s support for the ruling regime.

At the G-7 ministers’ meeting, the main topic of discussion Syria’s most recent chemical attack, which killed 87 civilians including over a dozen children.

Syrian President Bashar al-Assad denies responsibility.

Russia has supported Assad since the start of the war, providing him with armaments, advisers, and political cover, including vetoing seven U.N. Security Council mandates to sanction Syria.
