U.S. Secretary of State Rex Tillerson wants Russia to reconsider its support of Syria’s Bashar al-Assad.

Tillerson told the press on Wednesday, April 5, that Syria was responsible for the April 4, gas attack in Idlib.

“There’s no doubt in our mind that the Syrian regime, under the leadership of Bashar al-Assad is responsible for this horrific attack.”

The secretary of state went further, “We think it’s time the Russians really need to think carefully about their continued support for the Assad regime.”

Tillerson spoke at a press conference with Mexican Foreign Minister Luis Videgaray.

Videgaray was in Washington to attend a meeting at the Organization of American States (OAS.)

Mexico has taken a leadership role in OAS  to try to manage Venezuela’s political and economic crises.
