The toddler miraculously survived through her battle and defied all predictions of the doctors attending to her.
Tilly is now seven years old. Throughout her life, ever since the fateful fall, she has gone through over 340 operations, which included replacing her lost skin, with shark cartilage and cow collagen skin grafts.
Surprisingly, although she fell head first into the scalding water, her pretty little face was the only place that did not get burned.
The third-degree burns she suffered were so deep that her one leg had to be amputated.
The parents were not very happy with the proposition, but were advised by the doctors at QMC Hospital in Nottingham that they would want to amputate her leg and replace it with a prosthetic.
Emma, Tilly’s mother told the Nottingham Post: “I was a little bit upset at first when the doctors first gave us the news. But it’s got to be the best option for Tilly.”
Tilly, at present, moves around in the wheelchair and remains excited about her new leg.
“She says she is getting a ‘robot leg’ and that she will be able to chase people around.”
“We have got to try anything to get her back to where she wants to be – she wants to walk.”
With her smile on her face, Brave little Tilly has waited long enough to return to a normal life, and we hope she will do so with every passing year.
Good Luck Tilly!
