Train hits truck in Maryland, driver dead

A CSX cargo train crushed a Ford SUV in Beltsville, Maryland.

The truck came to a halt on the tracks at 3:40 a.m. July 4. The two crewmen on the train could not brake in time to avoid a collision.

The truck was crushed and pushed for several feet.

The driver was pronounced dead at the scene. It took several hours for police to extract his body from the wreckage.

Neither of the train’s crew were hurt.

It is as yet unknown why the truck had stopped there.
