A collision happened during New York City morning rush hour between an Amtrak and New Jersey Transit train. The Amtrak derailed as a result.

The NYC Fire Department arrived, but had no reports of injuries. Amtrak did not immediately comment on the situation, but suspended service.

In response, New Jersey Transit increased service to help Amtrak customers going into New Jersey.

Social media postings showed the place of impact. One customer reported that the impact shattered the window next to him.
