President Donald Trump’s approval rating increased to 45 percent in the first week of December.

According to a Morning Consult/Politico poll released on Dec. 6, Trump’s support was especially strong among religious groups, notably Christians (52 percent), with 60 percent of Evangelicals, 57 percent of Protestants, and 47 percent of Roman Catholics giving him the thumbs up.

The poll was conducted between Dec. 1 and Dec. 3 among a national sample of 1997 voters.

The poll also showed that 48 percent of registered voters trust Republicans in Congress to fix the economy. Only 32 percent of them said they trust Democrats to do the same.

Senate Republicans passed a tax bill last week aiming to increase economic growth by lowering the corporate tax rate from 35 percent to 20 percent.

Last month the House passed its version of the tax bill. House and Senate Republicans are now negotiating a final version of the bill that both groups will support.

The bills received no favorable votes from Democrats in either the House or the Senate.

Since coming to office in January, Trump has delivered on many of his campaign promises.

The ISIS terrorist group has been severely weakened and is on the run following the fall of its self-proclaimed caliphate in Raqqa, Syria.

The economy has improved significantly, reaching a 3 percent GDP growth in Q3, compared to a 1.6 percent average for 2016. Unemployment had dropped to 4.1 percent.

Stock markets have added over $5 trillion in value. Illegal crossings over the southern border under the new administration have dropped by 60 percent.
