Donald Trump could owe more money to the writer E. Jean Carroll at a second civil trial after she accused the former U.S. president of raping her decades ago.

Jury selection will begin in Manhattan federal court. Jurors will decide how much in damages President Trump owes over his June 2019 claim, which the judge has ruled defamatory, that he did not know Ms. Carroll and that the former Elle magazine columnist invented their encounter to sell her memoir.

A different jury awarded Ms. Carroll $5 million last May over a similar 2022 statement by President Trump. This trial will be held at 8:30 a.m. on Jan. 16.
