Trump hosts bipartisan reception for senators and spouses at White House

President Donald Trump invited Republican and Democratic senators and their spouses to the White House on March 28 for a special cocktail reception.

Vice President Mike Pence, who also helped host the event, said the president was “particularly moved” that so many family members attended.

Pence also thanked the senators for their “service to the nation.”

President Trump said he was pleasantly surprised at the bipartisan turnout of the event.

He expressed optimism in making a deal on health care, repairing the country’s infrastructure and boosting the military.

The president also called for cooperation between the the Republicans and Democrats.

“We are going to be doing a great job and hopefully it will start being bipartisan, because everybody really wants the same thing, we want greatness for this country that we love,” said Trump.

The group enjoyed performances by The United States Army Chorus and The United States Marine Chamber Orchestra.
