Former President Donald Trump’s lawyers sought to secure his immunity from prosecution during arguments they made before a panel of judges on Tuesday.
NTD spoke to Paul Kamenar, lead counsel at the National Legal and Policy Center, for his insights from the courtroom.
Mr. Kamenar emphasized the crucial nature of deciding the immunity question before a verdict is reached. He recounted being present in the courtroom, and stressed the need for producing a ruling so that President Trump could, if necessary, appeal to a higher court.
He was also of the opinion that certain judge’s comments seemed to presume President Trump’s guilt. Mr. Kamenar also acknowledged, however, the tricky legal aspects involved in separating issues related to presidential duties from potential criminal acts.
