President Donald Trump commended rapper Kanye West for his “service to the Black Community” after West, a Trump supporter, recently praised another black Trump supporter on Twitter.

“Kanye West has performed a great service to the Black Community – Big things are happening and eyes are being opened for the first time in Decades – Legacy Stuff!” Trump wrote on Twitter Friday, April 27.

West was a vocal Trump supporter during the 2016 presidential race. The rapper recently stirred the waters of social media following his return to Twitter after a nearly yearlong hiatus.

First, on April 21, West sent a tweet praising a conservative black Trump supporter.

“I love the way Candace Owens thinks,” West wrote.

Owens rose to early stardom after she set up a Youtube channel and declared herself conservative, garnering some 200,000 subscribers in nine months.

Left-wing media pounced on both Owens and West, labeling them “far-right.” Owens swiftly responded to the label.

“Far right? Allow me to clarify: I believe the black community can do it without hand-outs. I believe the Democrats have strapped us to our past to prevent us from our futures. And I won’t stop fighting until all black Americans see that,” she wrote on April 21. “I’m not far right—I’m free.”

On Wednesday, West proclaimed again his support for the president.

“You don’t have to agree with Trump but the mob can’t make me not love him,” West wrote. “We are both dragon energy. He is my brother. I love everyone. I don’t agree with everything anyone does. That’s what makes us individuals. And we have the right to independent thought.”

“Thank you Kanye,” Trump tweeted three hours later. “Very cool!”

On Friday, Trump also gave a shout out to Chance the Rapper and Dr. Darrell Scott.

“Thank you also to Chance and Dr. Darrell Scott, they really get it (lowest Black & Hispanic unemployment in history),” Trump said.

Chance tweeted on Wednesday, “Black people don’t have to be democrats.” The tweet received almost 300,000 likes and over 74,000 retweets by Friday.

Scott is a pastor and co-founder of the National Diversity Coalition for Trump. He was also a member of Trump’s executive transition team.

“Dem[ocrat]s and Lib[eral]s promote ones right to ‘Identify’ with or as their personal preference, as long as one does not ‘identify’ as a ‘Trump supporter,’” Scott tweeted on Friday.

The black unemployment rate fell to a historic low of 7.1 percent in June last year and then lowered further to 6.8 percent in December. The latest figure, from March, stands at 6.9 percent, according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics.
