K.T. McFarland, President Trump’s deputy national security adviser, could become the new U.S. ambassador to Singapore.

A U.S. official familiar with White House personnel matters spoke on condition of anonymity.

McFarland is expected to step down soon, but the exact date of her departure was unclear.

A former national security analyst for Fox News, McFarland was one of Trump’s original hires after he won the election.

The move comes as H.R. McMaster took over the role of national security adviser, replacing retired Gen. Michael Flynn.
