Trump Targets Joe Scarborough, Mika Brzezinski: ‘Morning Joe & Psycho Ratings Have Crashed’

President Donald Trump set his sights on “Morning Joe” co-hosts Joe Scarborough and Mika Brzezinski on July 30, noting their ratings had dropped and criticized them for being friends with him for years and helping promote his presidential campaign before turning on him.

“Wow! Morning Joe & Psycho ratings have really crashed. Very small audience. People are tired of hearing Fake News delivered with an anger that is not to be believed,” Trump said. “Sad, when the show was sane, they helped get me elected. Thanks! Was on all the time. Lost all of its juice!”

According to ratings released recently, “Morning Joe” averaged around 1 million viewers in the second quarter. That was a slight dip from the first quarter, when it averaged nearly 1.1 million viewers.

Trump famously appeared on “Morning Joe,” which airs on MSNBC, a slew of times during the race and was often friendly with the co-hosts.

Audio recorded offstage a South Carolina town hall that Trump and the show filmed in early 2016 showed the trio speaking, including Trump telling the pair: “I watched your show this morning. You have me almost as a legendary figure, I like that.”

Brzezinski thanked Trump for being on the show and the candidate told her she would get “great ratings and a raise” off of him. Later, she asked Scarborough, “Do you not want me to do, the um, the ones with, um, deportation?”

Scarborough says the hosts have to ask some questions and Trump says “nothing too hard,” to which Brzezinski says, “Okay.”

Later in the campaign, Brzezinski and Scarborough, who are married, turned on Trump and have become increasingly critical of him.

After Trump recently slammed Rep. Elijah Cummings (D-Md.), Brzezinski took to social media to say she and Scarborough supported Cummings while Scarborough said on the show: “He’s been braver than you, Donald. Braver than most.”

Trump issued another missive against the co-hosts later on Monday, writing: “Just reminded my staff that Morning Joe & Psycho were with me in my room, at their request, the night I won New Hampshire. Likewise, followed me to other states.”

“Don’t watch show, but heard Mika said I asked to preside over their marriage. Not true—does anyone really believe that? They were married by Elijah, King of Baltimore!” he added.
