President Donald Trump will award the Presidential Medal of Freedom posthumously to Turning Point USA founder Charlie Kirk at the White House on Tuesday. Kirk’s wife, Erika, will accept the nation’s highest civilian honor on his behalf.

Kirk was assassinated last month during an event at Utah Valley University. Trump credited the father of two with helping energize young voters and with playing a key role in his 2024 presidential campaign victory. The president called Kirk “a champion of liberty and a giant of his generation.” The medal ceremony coincides with what would have been Kirk’s 32nd birthday.
