One of the twin sisters, went to the bathroom and collapsed; she was lying on the floor when she was discovered — unable to open her eyes, even her speech was slurred.
This happened on February 9, 2013, when Hailey was hurriedly taken to the local hospital; the doctors tried to revive her. Penny Kehoe, her mother, knew things were bad when the pastor and the preacher were called to the hospital, the doctors have declared that they cannot help her.
So her case was forwarded to Penn State Hershey Children’s Hospital; she was airlifted to the hospital and doctors discovered that Hailey was born with brain Arteriovenous malformation (AVM).
AVM is a condition that creates a tangle in the brain’s blood vessels and connecting arteries. There were even concerns that she might not even be able to wake up after the surgery.
Haley and her twin sister were inseparable and her condition threatened to tragically break the bond, but she was miraculously given a second chance at life!
After the surgery, when Hailey finally opened her eyes.
“To see her open her eyes, big blue eyes, that i had not seen for over two weeks…That was just amazing,” Her mother who all the while waiting for her loving daughter to come out of coma said in the Penn State Hershey video below.
Every one in the Family were so relieved and Happy that she is back, her mom says ” to see Hailey thriving, as a mom I couldn’t want anything else, it fills my heart.”
Hailey is fully recovered now but she has a little deficit she has some weakness of the vocal cords and her voice has changed.
“I like it because it makes me unique,” Hailey says about her voice.
She is indeed unique and she wants to be a art teacher because loves to teach children and she absolutely love art.
Haley’s story again reminds all about unpredictable nature of our existence, one day she was fine and ten minutes later she was battling for her life… We never know what fate has in store for us.
