Two people blasted off into the atmosphere. They won’t stop until they reach space. It will take them six hours to reach the International Space Station. An astronaut and a cosmonaut are on board, and the third seat has been left unoccupied.
The two were sent up in a Russian rocket from Baikonur Cosmodrome in Kazakhstan to reach the ISS 250 miles above Earth. Russia is sending up fewer people until it sends up a science laboratory.
Once aboard the space station they will join record-breaking astronaut Peggy Whitson, who has spent more time in space than any other U.S. astronaut.
