Two sisters reunite with their Thai mother after four decades. How they found her is unimaginable!

Two girls were separated from their mother in Thailand and for decades didn’t see her. A photo reunited them, thanks to Facebook.

Starla Medlock and Jeannie Toomey’s father, who served in the American Air Force, married their Thai mother when he was serving in Vietnam. The parents were divorced a few years later and the girls followed their father to the US. The sisters, who are now 43 and 42 years old respectively, have been searching for their mother ever since.

While interacting with the ABC News, Starla explains, “We asked our dad a lot about our mom, and he never spoke ill of our mom to us. He just said that she couldn’t speak English because she’s full-blooded Thai, and he said she thought since we were American and he was in the military, he could take better care of us and provide us a better life than she could.”

The sisters however continued their search for their mother, until recently, when they posted their childhood pictures on Facebook. Starla received a message on Facebook from her mother’s current husband on the 30th of December 2016. And after they were identified, the mother, Lani, and her husband flew to Kansas City to reunite with her long lost family.

The daughters, who met their long lost mother on the 3rd of January, couldn’t have asked for a better New Year gift.

Years later, the sisters were still searching for their mother. Most recently, this involved posting a photo of themselves as young girls on Facebook.
