UK, Europe News Brief (Oct. 5)

A technical glitch means nearly 16,000 cases of COVID-19 were officially unreported and untraced in the UK.

England’s public health body says the cases have been added to Saturday’s and Sunday’s figures. That means these two days’ reports include nearly 13,000 and 23,000 new cases respectively.

Prime Minister Boris Johnson says the current higher number of new cases is closer to government forecasts.
