Though it’s tough to make an accurate prediction about Brexit, one expert says in the next few months, the UK is highly likely to adopt the agreement negotiated between Britain’s Prime Minister Boris Johnson and the European Union.

This agreement may lead to trilateral relations on trade between the United Kingdom, the European Union, and the United States.

“It’s highly likely at this point that the UK will leave with the deal that Boris Johnson negotiated, said Thomas Wright, Director of the Center on the United States and Europe at the Brookings Institution. “I think that’s not just the base case, I think it’s probably somewhat close to 70 to 75 percent.”

Wright says that in talking with the EU and the United States at the same time, the UK can consider what regulations and standards it will adopt in the future, and that will lead to an outcome in the best interests of the country.

President Donald Trump has promised that once the UK leaves the EU, the United States will sign a significant trade deal with the UK.
