UK prime minister talks about cooking and making tea with her husband

Theresa May sat down with her husband to talk about life outside of politics. The U.K. politician lives a quiet, normal home life when she isn’t handling government affairs.

Philip May, Theresa husband, spoke about their marriage, “Well first of all it’s an enormous privilege for Theresa to be doing this job and for me to be there alongside her. And I think I get to meet the most fascinating and interesting people, I get to do some things I wouldn’t otherwise do, and you know, it is a huge privilege. So there isn’t really a downside. Obviously if you’re the kind of man who expects his tea to be on the table at 6 o’clock every evening, you could be a little bit disappointed.”

The couple also revealed the prime minister’s love of cooking.

“Theresa’s a very good cook. Theresa’s a very very good cook indeed, actually. And you have a large number of cookery books,” said Philip May.

“I have a large number of cookery books, yes, at home. Obviously we live in the flat in Downing Street, but we like to get home on weekends, and that’s where most of my cookery books are,” said Theresa May.
