European Commission President Jean-Claude Juncker wants the U.K. to cease stopping the EU.

London has blocked an EU spending bill because of a U.K. tradition against making politically sensitive decisions ahead of an election. Britain’s election is scheduled for June 8.

The EU needs the $6.5 billion in the bill to cope with migrants streaming across the Mediterranean.

Britain could certainly use some goodwill from the EU as the unions prepares for Brexit negotiations.

In related news, the EU has decided to consider starting trade negotiations before completing divorce proceedings—if the UK proves cooperative in early negotiations.

The U.K. wants parallel negotiations; the EU said the split would be negotiated before the aftermath would be considered. Now the EU has shown some willingness to compromise at the exact time the U.K. has decided to be intransigent.

“I have the impression sometimes that our British friends, not all of them, do underestimate the technical difficulties we have to face,” commented European Commission President Jean-Claude Juncker.
