Ukraine Defies Call For Surrender in Mariupol

Ukrainian authorities refused Russia’s demand to surrender in Mariupol, saying two-thousand civilians have lost their lives in the besieged city. Some died of stress or lack of medical help. Russian shells hit residential buildings and a shopping center in Kyiv, killing at least eight people. The strategically important Black Sea port city of Odessa reported a first attack from Russia on its residential buildings.
