Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky gave an address via video link from Ukraine to Parliament Tuesday evening. Members of the House of Lords filled the upper galleries to watch the speech alongside MPs in the Commons. He spoke about the thirteen days of war in Ukraine, saying Russia “did not allow any food, any water, and people started panicking” in the port city of Mariupol. He asked for tougher sanctions to be imposed on Russia. Zelensky made similar pleas to politicians across the world.
