The U.N. Security Council will meet Wednesday morning to discuss reports of a poison-gas attack by Syria.

Current Security Council President Nikki Haley told the group, “We have all seen reports of the terrible chemical weapons attack in Syria. I’d like to inform the council that the presidency intends to convene in briefing format here in the open chamber tomorrow at 10 a.m. (1400 GMT)to discuss the attack.

“We will move our briefing and consultations on Colombia to the afternoon so we can have this emergency meeting and we are hoping to get as much information on the Syrian attack as we can.”

Eyewitness reports and video footage indicate that a chemical weapon may have been used on rebel forces in Syria.

A volunteer civil defense group videotaped dozens of bodies, including children, supposedly killed by gas.

Reports of victims choking and foaming at the mouth reinforce suspicions.

The attack was reportedly carried out by Syrian jets in rebel-held Idlib province.
