UNICEF battling cholera in Yemen

UNICEF is boosting the capacity of the water treatment plant in Sanaa, Yemen, to stop cholera. It is also helping local hospitals fight the disease.

A recent cholera outbreak has killed nearly 200 people. It is the worst outbreak since the start of the two-year war.

In two years, more than 300 have died, out of 32,000 cases reported.

Bad waste management coupled with a lack of clean water is deadly.

A child under 5 dies every 10 minutes of a preventable disease in Yemen, according to UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres.

Over 2 million children are malnourished. Almost half a million face starvation.
