Unidentified object explodes near St Petersburg library

An explosion near a library in St. Petersburg, Russia on April 13 injured one person. Police said an unidentified object blew up in a young man’s hands at 18:40 local time.

“A man was on the ground, he looked 17 or 18 years old, around that age. It has become known now that he is a student at some university,” said Valery Kuznetsov, an eyewitness. “He was lying in a pool of blood, his fingers were torn off from the base.”

The injured man was rushed to a local hospital in an ambulance. Police and local security services are still investigating the incident.
