US Reportedly Imposes Sanctions on China’s Biggest Chipmaker

The United States has reportedly imposed sanctions on China’s biggest chipmaker, SMIC. The Commerce Department asked American chip companies to apply for licenses before exporting certain technology to SMIC.

Our in-house expert says if the administration moves ahead with the sanctions, it will be much harder for the Chinese military to get its hands on the technology it needs to compete with the United States.
