As many as 117 men and 20 women remain in captivity as hostages in Gaza, with 10 of the hostages over the age of 75. In addition, 11-month-old and 5-year-old siblings are among the hostages.

NTD spoke to David Mencer, an Israeli government spokesperson, to find out more on the hostage situation. He said that Israel’s 2 goals remain the same, namely “to return these hostages home, and also that Hamas will no longer exist as a threat to Israel at the end of this.”

He said Israel is willing to do anything it can to return the hostages to their families, and that “harsh military action” is the only thing that can get results when dealing with the “genocidal, murderous organization” that is Hamas.

“We are liberating Gaza from Hamas,” he said.
