US-Based Forrester Research to Close China Office

U.S. tech research and advisory firm Forrester Research decided to shut down its office in China. A company spokesperson said the closure is part of a global restructuring plan.

The news comes after Chinese authorities raided the offices of American firms Capvision and Mintz. U.S. consulting giant Bain and Company also said Chinese police questioned staff in its Shanghai office.

Chinese state media say the action aims to protect national security.

On the other hand, the European Union’s Chamber of Commerce in China says it sends a worrying signal and increases uncertainty.
