U.S. Capitol Police officer Brian Sicknick died at about 9:30 p.m on Jan. 7, due to injuries sustained while on duty responding to a breach of the Capitol building in Washington. The U.S. Capitol Police Department said he was “injured while physically engaging with protesters.” He collapsed when he returned to the division office and later died in the hospital. Lawmakers gave an outpouring of condolences on Twitter.
