US Considers Dropping Travel Warnings on China

Deputy Secretary of State Kurt Campbell said on Tuesday that the State Department is considering whether to drop its travel advisory against China. However, the senior diplomat still pointed out that Beijing’s support to Russia harms U.S.–China relations. Last June, the department updated its advisory for the country to Level 3: Reconsider Travel, citing concerns that American tourists in China could be subject to exit bans or wrongful detention.
