Mexico is planning an import ban on genetically-modified corn, also known as GMO corn. This ban could devastate farmers all across the United States, and many could go out of business.
If Mexico imposes its ban, all of America would take a financial hit. Corn is America’s single largest agricultural export, and Mexico is our biggest buyer, with $10.6 billion worth purchased last year. This would be a tremendous amount of revenue lost.
American corn farmers were in Washington on Jan. 31, encouraging Congress to fight Mexico’s corn policies! NTD spoke to one of the farmers who went to Washington, Tom Haag, the president of the National Corn Growers Association.
