House Speaker Mike Johnson led a delegation of over 60 House Republicans to Eagle Pass, Texas Wednesday to view firsthand the situation on the Southern border.

NTD spoke to Simon Hankinson, a senior research fellow in the Border Security and Immigration Center at The Heritage Foundation, to find out more about what needs to be done about border security and the illegal immigration crisis.

He said the border crisis was the result of an entire series of failed immigration policies from Washington—and especially those of the Biden administration.

“I do put the majority of the blame on the White House,” he said. “This is a deliberate series of policies by the Biden administration to deemphasize enforcement in the interior, to basically allow almost everybody to cross the border and then release, probably, half or more of them into the interior indefinitely, because the immigration court system is so blocked up.”
