US, Philippines Hold Joint Drill in South China Sea

The United States and the Philippines held joint naval drills in the South China Sea on Friday. The two countries are strengthening their ties to counter China and protect peace in the region. The Philippines recently also ordered infrastructure and defense improvements in its Batanes province close to Taiwan. Following the announcement, Beijing warned Manila against “playing with fire.”
